When Outpatient Treatment May Be the Right Next Step

Many people reach a point where weekly therapy or occasional support no longer feels like enough. You may still be functioning day to day, but internally, things feel harder to manage.

Outpatient programs like PHP and IOP provide more structured support without requiring you to step away from your life completely.

Outpatient treatment may help if you:

  • Feel like you’re “getting by,” but not actually improving
  • Notice patterns that keep repeating despite therapy or effort
  • Experience ongoing anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
  • Are relying more on substances to cope or manage stress
  • Feel mentally exhausted trying to manage everything on your own
  • Need more structure, accountability, or consistent support
  • Are transitioning from inpatient or residential care and want to maintain progress
  • Want help, but aren’t sure what level of care is right

If any of these feel familiar, you’re not alone,  and it may be a sign that a more structured level of care could help.

We’ll help you understand your options and determine what level of support fits your situation.

Outpatient Treatment Programs in Los Angeles

Skyline Recovery specializes in structured outpatient treatment programs that provide intensive clinical care while allowing you to maintain your daily routines and responsibilities.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our partial hospitalization program runs for 6 – 8 hours per day for 5 days per week. It is personalized to meet you where you are for a relevant, empowering recovery journey.

PHP may be recommended if you need:

  • Daily structure and accountability
  • Stabilization for mental health symptoms
  • Intensive substance use disorder treatment
  • Ongoing care after inpatient or residential rehab.

In PHPs, you will participate in individual therapy, group therapy, medication management planning, life skills training, and aftercare planning for a lasting recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our intensive outpatient program provides structured treatment with a more flexible schedule. It runs for 3 – 5 hours per day for 3 – 5 days per week. We also provide evening and telehealth IOPs for those who need more flexibility, provided it is the right level of care for you.

IOP is ideal for those who:

  • Are stepping down from residential care or a PHP
  • Are returning to school or work
  • Need ongoing structure and care in early recovery
  • Can maintain stability outside of hospital settings.

IOP allows you to continue building stability while maintaining personal responsibilities.

Here you can read whether PHP or IOP can be the right fit for you so that you can make informed decisions in your recovery journey.
